We're looking for Salford Students who would like to work for Salford SU as a Societies Admin Assistant (Student Staff)! This job will help academic societies grow and succeed by creating a welcoming, engaging, and inclusive experience for students.

  • £13.45 per hour 
  • Minimum commitment of 4 hours per week during term-time
  • Full training provided 
  • We schedule your shifts around your study and other commitments

Students applying must be currently enrolled on a course at the University of Salford for the full September 2026 - May 2027 academic year. This is a paid role with a minimum commitment of 4 hours per week during term-time.

 

What will you be doing?

In this role you will support societies with a range of administrative, promotional, and event-related tasks, ensuring they have the guidance and resources they need to thrive. Working closely with society committees, student leaders, academic staff, and the Students' Union, you will encourage student participation, support the development of new and existing societies, and help build a strong sense of community across the university. 

You will:

  • Support the day-to-day administration of academic student societies, helping ensure activities ran smoothly and providing assistance where needed.
  • Assist new and existing societies by offering guidance, sharing resources, and directing them to the appropriate support.
  • Collect feedback from societies and students to help identify ways to enhance the overall student experience.
  • Contribute ideas to develop societies, encourage greater student participation, and increase engagement across the School and wider University.
  • Help promote societies, events, and opportunities through a range of communication channels to maximize student awareness and involvement.
  • Provided administrative support to the Societies Lead and wider Students' Union team, assisting with a variety of operational tasks.
  • Support the monitoring of society compliance, funding applications, and event planning processes, ensuring activities followed relevant policies and procedures.

  • Are current University of Salford Students (Undergraduate or Postgraduate) for the full academic year September 2026 to May 2027
  • Have good communication and listening skills
  • Have great organisation and time management skills 
  • Have the ability to read and understand new information quickly
  • Are interested in the role and want to learn
