From a free afternoon in Peel Park to a world-renowned trans celebration in the Gay Village, here is everything happening in June and how to get involved.

The Pink Picnic - Saturday 13 June, Peel Park

Start here if it is your first Pride event. Salford's own celebration is right on your doorstep, now in its fifteenth year, and it is one of the most welcoming events in the calendar. A full day of live music, drag, DJs, headline acts, and community voices in Peel Park. There are community stalls, a youth zone, a family area, and quiet spaces for anyone who needs them.

Date: Saturday 13 June 2026, 1pm to 9pm

Where: Peel Park, Salford

Tickets: From £5 for ages 16 and over. Under 16s go free but need a registered ticket. Get tickets on Skiddle or visit pinkpicnic.org.uk

Re/Assemble at People's History Museum - Until January 2027

This is genuinely one of the most powerful things you can do this month. Re/Assemble is a free exhibition at People's History Museum exploring the legacy of Section 28, starting from the moment in 1988 when 20,000 people gathered in Manchester in what became the largest LGBTQIA+ demonstration in British history, the Never Going Underground march.

The exhibition features newly commissioned artworks by queer artists alongside historic protest banners and artefacts from the museum's own collection, including items on public display for the first time. Running all through June and well beyond, it is free to visit and open every day.

Where: People's History Museum, Left Bank, Spinningfields

Free. Open daily 10am to 5pm. Find out more at phm.org.uk

Queer Data Showcase - Wednesday 10 June, Manchester

Spotlighting the work of queer artists and academics, this showcase is part of Manchester's wider Pride Month cultural programme. A good event if you are interested in queer arts and research beyond the festival circuit.

Date: Wednesday 10 June 2026

More info: Check visitmanchester.com for details

Red Rodeo Club - Thursday 18 June, Fairfield Social Club

Something a bit different. Red Rodeo Club is Manchester's queer line dancing night, mixing beginner-friendly boot-scootin tutorials with a proper party vibe. No experience needed, just show up and join in. It is one of the most fun, low-pressure nights in the city's queer calendar and a great one to go to with a group.

Date: Thursday 18 June 2026, 7pm to 10:30pm

Where: Fairfield Social Club, Manchester

Tickets: Get tickets on Skiddle

Sparkle Weekend - Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June, Sackville Gardens

Sparkle Weekend is now in its 21st year and is the UK's longest running celebration of trans and gender diverse life. It takes over Sackville Gardens in Manchester's Gay Village at the end of June and is open to everyone who identifies as trans, non-binary, or gender diverse, and their friends, families, and allies. All ages are welcome.

Expect a main stage packed with performers, a marketplace with grassroots organisations and creatives, a Sanctuary pop-up for quieter moments, and a family-friendly atmosphere throughout. The event is fully wheelchair accessible with free carer tickets available.

Dates: Friday 26 to Sunday 28 June 2026

Where: Sackville Gardens, Manchester Gay Village

Tickets: Get tickets on Eventbrite or visit sparkle.org.uk

Canal Street and the Gay Village - All Month

Pride Month brings extra energy to Manchester's Gay Village all through June. Canal Street is one of the most established LGBTQ+ spaces in Europe, lined with bars, clubs, and venues that host queer nights, drag brunches, comedy, and club nights throughout the month. You do not need to wait for a specific event to go and explore it.

Check Skiddle's Manchester LGBTQ+ listings for what is on any given week throughout June, including club nights, drag shows, and community events across the Village.

Coming Up in August

The summer does not stop in June. Manchester Village Pride returns across the Bank Holiday weekend at the end of August, with the parade on Saturday 29 August under the theme No Place Like Home. We will have a full guide to that closer to the time, but if you want to get ahead, wristbands are on sale now at manchestervillagepride.org.

Get involved through your SU

Join the LGBTQ+ Society

The SU's LGBTQ+ Society meets every Tuesday at 7.30pm in the Student Activities hub in University House, these meetings are open to anyone who wants to come along and meet like-minded people and take part in a variety of LGBTQ+ related events through out the year. Join Now!

University support

If you ever want someone to talk to, the University offers one-to-one appointments, support with name changes, and referrals to other organisations for anyone exploring or expressing their identity. Email askus@salford.ac.uk to find out more.

Never been before? A few things worth knowing

You do not need to be LGBTQIA+. Allies are welcome at every event on this list.

The Pink Picnic is the gentlest starting point. Outdoors, affordable, family-friendly, and right next to campus.

Going with someone helps. Come to a Tuesday LGBTQ+ Society session and find people to go with before the summer kicks off.

The Re/Assemble exhibition is free and open all month. One of the most important things on this list, and it costs nothing.

You do not have to do it all. Showing up in any form counts.

Follow @SalfordSU on Instagram for updates all summer.
