About the Role
Role Title: Student Communities Administrator (Graduate Intern)
Hours: 35-hours per week (to be worked flexibly)
Salary: £24,827.52 (Band A)
Duration: 2 years fixed term
Reporting to: Student Communities Lead
Role Purpose
This role is all about helping students feel connected – whether that’s through their course, identity, or shared interests. You’ll support the delivery of projects and activities that bring academic and protected communities to life. From helping student leaders run events, to gathering feedback and making sure our spaces are welcoming and inclusive, you’ll play a key role in supporting students to build strong, inclusive student-led communities.
Main Responsibilities and Activities
- Support the planning and development of campaigns, events, and engagement activities across academic and protected communities.
- Support the gathering of insight and feedback from students and communities to shape future plans.
- Assist with creating training sessions, drop-ins and resources for student leaders and volunteers.
- Contribute ideas to improve how we support students to lead and grow their own communities.
- Support students and volunteers to run inclusive, engaging activities, and make sure they feel confident and prepared.
- Help coordinate event logistics – booking spaces, promoting events, and preparing materials.
- Contribute to internal reports and work with the Marketing & Communications Team to highlight success stories through social media.
- Support the maintenance of accurate records of activities, sign-ups, and student engagement.
- Support feedback tracking and engagement reporting to support internal planning and improvement.
- Be a friendly and welcoming point of contact for students who want to get involved in SU communities.
- Build relationships with Student Leaders, society committee members and community volunteers.
- Support communication and collaboration between different communities, societies, and SU teams.
- Work with staff across the SU and University to promote opportunities and ensure students feel part of the wider community.
- Ensure compliance with the Union’s policies, University policies and all relevant legislation – including Health and Safety, 1992 Education Act and Data Protection.
- Help our Full Time Officers achieve their manifesto commitments.
- Actively engage in student-facing projects and activities of all kinds as required.
- Be an enthusiastic advocate for student leadership and the organisation’s values.
- Maintain your own professional networks and promote the Union on a local and national level.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
- Recent graduate or graduating in 2023 or later from the University of Salford. You must have completed your studies before starting the role.
- Some experience supporting events, campaigns, or projects, either in a professional or voluntary capacity.
- Understanding of the importance of inclusion and community in a university setting.
Skills and Abilities
- Able to demonstrate friendly, confident and approachable communication with a wide range of people.
- Able to manage your time, meet deadlines and ask for help when needed.
- Willing to learn and try new things.
