About the Role

Role Title: Marketing Coordinator

Hours: 35-hours per week (to be worked flexibly)

Salary: £26,797.29 - £30,307.27 (Band B)

Duration:  2 Year (Fixed Term Contract)

Reporting to: Head of Marketing & Communications

Role Purpose

This role will focus on marketing strategy development and implementation, working alongside the Head of Marketing & Communications, as well as internal stakeholders, to create creative integrated marketing campaigns. It will also take lead in developing in-person marketing activations on campus, as well as coordinating digital marketing practices including articles, copywriting, website maintenance and email marketing.

Main Responsibilities and Activities

  • Carrying out market research, analysing forecasts and performing competitive analysis
  • Supporting the development and execution of a company’s marketing and branding strategies
  • Works alongside the Head of Marketing and Communications to develop integrated marketing campaigns and company marketing strategies
  • Monitors marketing industry news and maintains an up-to-date knowledge of industry best practice
  • Responsible for all in-person marketing activations and events – including room bookings, sourcing materials and providing orders
  • Produces the marketing trimester analytical reports (including data analysis) 
  • Coordinates the digital marketing areas of email marketing and assisting with website maintenance
  • Responsible for working alongside student staff to develop and produce originally written articles
  • Works alongside the Head of Marketing and Communications to plan Officer Campaigns in line with Salford SU strategy
  • Assists the HR department, alongside the Social Media Coordinator, in any Internal Communications strategy/output
  • Assists Commercial department with any commercial activations & advertising 
  • To engage, inspire and manage connections with student communities online and face-to-face, supporting Student Officers and student leaders to network and build social connections within the Union.
  • Responsibility to assist the Student Officer(s) assigned to your marketing role
  • Develop and maintain relationships with colleagues throughout the SU, University and other partners.
  • Build effective relationships with colleagues at other students’ unions to share best practice.
  • Assist with the promotion of the Students' Union's work throughout the University and to external organisations.
  • Ensure compliance with the Union’s policies, University policies and all relevant legislation – including Health and Safety, 1992 Education Act and Data Protection.
  • Help our Full Time Officers achieve their manifesto commitments.
  • Actively engage in student-facing projects and activities of all kinds as required.
  • Be an enthusiastic advocate for student leadership and the organisation’s values.
  • Maintain your own professional networks and promote the Union on a local and national level.

 

Person Specification

Knowledge and Experience

  • Experience in marketing either through a marketing degree qualification (or similar qualification) or through vocational experience.
  • Able to demonstrate previous knowledge and experience in marketing strategy and integrated marketing campaigns.
  • Knowledge of marketing activations and in-person marketing methods.
  • A working knowledge and interest in article and blog writing.
  • Prior experience in basic copywriting and proof-reading.
  • Knowledge of and/or an appreciation of the issues currently impacting students in Higher Education.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of and/or an appreciation of the mental health and wellbeing issues currently impacting students in Higher Education. 
  • Experience of creating content for a wide audience base of various ages, genders, ethnicities, interests and backgrounds.

Skills and Abilities

  • Able to use programs and platforms such as Canva, Adobe Suite, and email template building platforms such as MailChimp.
  • A demonstratable understanding of HTML and CSS coding – with basic web maintenance skills.
  • Able to demonstrate strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to work in and adapt to a fast-paced, changing environment.
