Join Salford Students’ Union for an afternoon of celebration, learning, and creativity as we recognise women across cultures, faiths, and communities through performances, stories, and shared experiences.

Salford Students’ Union is hosting Global Village Of Salford- Celebrating Women Across Cultures, an inclusive event that brings together students and staff to recognise and celebrate women from a wide range of cultures, faiths, backgrounds, and academic fields.

Taking place on Wednesday 21 January from 2–6pm in Maxwell Upper Hall, the event is free and open to all students and staff, both within the SEE School and across the wider University of Salford community.

About the Event

Led by Hina Rehman Khalil, Celebrating Women Across Cultures aims to create a welcoming space for learning, connection, and celebration. The afternoon will highlight the diversity that exists across campus while recognising the women and communities that help shape it.

Throughout the event, attendees will have the opportunity to engage with cultures from around the world through creative, educational, and interactive activities.

 

  • Cultural stalls led by student societies
  • Profiles of inspiring women from different cultures and communities
  • Cultural music and food
  • Short presentations and live performances
  • Opportunities to learn about identities and communities across campus

Attendees are welcome, though not required, to wear traditional or cultural clothing.

 

 

 

 

Get Involved: Call for Performers and Contributors

Students are encouraged to take an active role in the programme by contributing creatively. We welcome performances and contributions that reflect identity, culture, heritage, and creativity.

Examples of contributions include:

  • Cultural dance
  • Singing or instrumental music
  • Spoken word or poetry
  • Short presentations on culture, heritage, or inspiring women
  • Any other creative performance celebrating community or identity

Who Can Attend

This event is open to all students and staff within the SEE School and beyond. It is intended to be both celebratory and educational, offering an opportunity to recognise the richness of our backgrounds and the women who have shaped them.

Students and staff are warmly encouraged to attend, get involved, and help make this a meaningful and inclusive celebration for the Salford community.
