Between lectures, deadlines, and the pressure to “make the most of it,” it’s easy to look on social media and feel like everyone else is thriving. But here’s the truth, loads of students feel the same way. And that’s exactly why SU Connectors exists.
So what is SU Connectors?
SU Connectors is a brilliant initiative from SalfordSU is designed to help you build real connections with people you might not usually cross paths with.
It’s not about small talk or forced icebreakers, it’s about meaningful conversations and finding your people.
Because let’s face it, most uni friendships start out of convenience. Maybe it's being in the same flat, same course, same seminar group. But SU Connectors gives you the chance to step outside that bubble and meet people you genuinely connect with.
It’s about actively listening, diving into deeper topics, and being heard without judgment.
How it works...
Each SU Connectors group is made up of a small bunch of students who meet weekly for 1–2 hours over six weeks.
Sessions happen in person at the same time each week, so you’ll always know when and where to show up. It becomes a regular part of your routine, where you can relax and be yourself.
You’ll chat, laugh, reflect, and maybe even open up about things you wouldn’t normally talk about.
No big crowds, no pressure, it's just a safe space to be yourself.

Each group is guided by two trained student staff members who totally get what uni life is like.
It’s like chatting with a mate who’s been through it too — someone who can relate and help steer the convo in a way that feels natural and supportive.
Creative, Hands-On Activities 🎨
You won’t just be sitting around talking (unless that’s what the group wants).
SU Connectors includes fun, interactive projects that help you express yourself and bond with others. Think of it as connection-building with a creative twist.
Don’t Always Believe Social Media 📱
You might scroll endlessly through Instagram thinking why did I not go tot that uni, or how have they got so many friends? But trust us, that’s not always the full story.
