We are deeply concerned about the rising tensions between India and Pakistan. Though occurring abroad, these events may deeply affect members of our student community, especially those with personal or cultural ties to the region.
As Students’ Union President, I want to acknowledge the distress this may cause. If you’re feeling anxious or uncertain, please know you’re not alone—support is available.
The Students’ Union is committed to maintaining a safe, inclusive campus. In times like these, compassion and respectful dialogue are essential. We condemn all forms of hate speech, harassment, or discrimination, and urge anyone affected to report incidents to us or the University. You can do so anonymously through Report and Support.
We ask all students to approach these sensitive issues with empathy—particularly in conversations with those directly impacted. Differences of opinion must never lead to hostility or exclusion.
If you need support, please reach out to the SU Advice Centre, the University Wellbeing Team, or your cultural and faith societies.
Together, let’s uphold the values of respect, unity, and peace that define our community. The Students’ Union will continue to monitor the situation and support you in every way we can.
