Who are you voting for?
You are voting to elect Student Officers, who will lead the University of Salford’s Student Union, representing students and aiming to improve your experience at Salford.
If chosen, they will also become a member of the Trustee Board, which is responsible for holding staff accountable and they overse the Union finances making sure the money is used to benefit students; they will also work to promote activities and events in the SU to students.
In these elections you will be voting to elect a President and your School Officer. The President is in charge of representing the voice of students, campaign on issues affecting them and implement Union policy.
They will have direct contact with the University Vice Chancellor and the National Union of Students; and act as a spokesperson of the Students’ Union to external contacts.
The School Officers will represent students within each of their schools whether it is the School of Business & Law, the School of Science, Engineering & Environment, the School of Arts, Media & Creative Technology or the School of Health & Society.
They will carry out campaigns that are important to them in relation to their school and lead the student voice for each of their departments, implementing the Students’ Union policy. Check out more information about their roles here.
How voting works
This year you will be able to vote for the SU President and your School Officer.
Meaning that if for example you are a SAMCT student you will get 2 votes, one for your President and another one for your SAMCT School Officer, whereas a Business & Law student would vote for a President and a Business & Law School Officer.
